- NSF announced on July 10, 2007 that the Homestake (South Dakota) site has been chosen for S3 study: See NSF Announcement.

- The S3 site selection is in process. Site visits are currently taking place. Reverse site visit at NSF will take place in the coming month.
- NSF (High Energy Physics, Nuclear Physics or Nuclear and Particles Astrophysics) and DOE (High Energy Physics, Nuclear Physics) are currently reviewing DUSEL related R&D in Physics or Astrophysics which have been submitted by October 31, 2006.
